New Skatepark will Host the 2017 Canadian Skateboarding Championships
World Skateboarding Federation and Olympic Park officials announced today a partnership to build a new world class skatepark in Montreal, Canada in Olympic Park, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The state-of-the-art park is planned to host future national and international skateboarding events, including the 2017 Canadian Skateboarding Championships.
World Skateboarding Federation President Tim McFerran said that this new park will serve as a site for future major contests. The new skatepark, located at the corner of Pie-IX and Sherbrooke (sector 600), will be open to the public in summer 2017.
“This new park will be a fantastic addition to Olympic Park, serving the local skateboarding community as well as hosting major events in the future,” remarked McFerran. “After months working on the design with Spohn Ranch and local Montreal skateboarders, we are moving forward on construction and the plan is to have the park completed by the summer of 2017 with the grand opening at the Canadian Skateboarding Championships.”
